Like a long crossing of the brackish waters of the theater

Earth!

This is the cry of the shipwrecked man, the pirate, the sailor at the sight of an expected shoreline in the distance.

It is for us the same hope that we think we see coming at every stage approached, every meeting with a venue director, who from time to time syncopates the long crossing of the insipid and polluted sea of today's theatre.

When you set foot there, you often find the same mediocrity at each stopover and the disappointed hope of a new land where serious pretension is banished, the vanity of 'cultural' men and creative poverty.

At the time of its creation at the Théâtre du Rond-Point, "Terre!" was just the opportunity for an amused and disillusioned pamphlet against the grotesque complacency of institutional theatre venuesThis is the case for this one as well as for the others, and for all those who aspire to be able to delightfully gargle with a "joyful audacity"!

EARTH!

Text and design: David Noir

A metaphor of the theatre through the evocation of the "Raft of the Medusa"...

"Earth! "was created at the invitation of Joël Dragutin as part of an EAT devoted to him on the 20th of December. January 2004 at the Théâtre du Rond-Point, in a staging by David Noir with members of the La Vie Est Courte Co:

Valérie Brancq / Sonia Codhant / Florence Médina / Marie Notte / Any Tournayre / Rémy Bardet / Jérôme Coulomb / Jean-Hugues Laleu / David Noir / Jean-François Rey / Philippe Savoir

The play was replayed at the opening of the Corps de Texte festival the same year at the Théâtre des 2 rives in Rouen.

Earth! Land!
Tray in sight!

All of them climb on a large walkway one metre above the ground.

All of them are installed there as if on a raft, very compact, grouped together

They all look in the same direction until the first song.

The group is in profile, garden oriented.

All along : free improvisation of the bodies | Sexual and tender games.

We can't put our foot down there.

This theater is a piece of shit!

And if you believe me, my sweet prince and friend..,

Run away from her welcome.

Let's not tread on the stage that's going to get us all bogged down.

It's a decoy in our eyes, created to seduce us.

We're in danger of getting bogged down.

His programming stinks.

His crusty audience,

Right down to the neck with the excrement of the authors who constantly fly over its shore.

Please, Lord,

Let us leave these foul waters

Hence the taste of toilet and ass staging.

He's no longer on these cursed shores...

No love, no kindness, no sincerity even.

From the chips to the com who designed them in the shadows,

From the administration

To the idle souls of dull secretaries.

It's all about deceit and false appearances...

And the shimmering of its tarnished splendour

Are but poor remnants of withered passion.
