Creative wealth: the good fortune of artists
Wealth at your fingertips
I put the image of a half-orange on this page. It's a half-orange that I scanned and retouched.
Half an orange from a whole orange I bought; maybe with my Assedics money - how do I know?
Money dissolves its origin when it mixes with money from other sources. According to intellectual property law, I am the author of the image of this half-orange. It belongs to me.
Anyone can only use it if I allow them to. That's what being an author means in the eyes of the law. I created an image of half an orange and became an author. I have become the owner of this image. I have created wealth. I own it. I can sell it or lend it. The fact that anyone can make an identical image or one based on it is open to debate. No one has the right to plagiarise this image too obviously without citing the source of inspiration and the author. This image is spontaneously protected by its very existence. I can register it at the INPI like my brand logo. I can attack anyone who goes beyond these rules. I became the owner at the same time as I became the creator.
What are we complaining about? Capital and works of the mind are forever linked.
Wealth is within reach. All you have to do is.
The art market is a juicy business, as we already knew.
