Les Justes Story

Pulsion Theâtre from 5 to 27 July 2002 at 8 p.m.

Censored by Pierre Cardin, who deprogrammed it from his space, and forbidden to children under 18, the showThe Righteous (version 3), by David Noir, features a succession of gore-filled, pomo-trash scenes and hate-filled vituperations against the dominant ideology, the media - television in particular - the society of spectacle and generalised beefiness (beauferie?). The result exceeds all expectations: David Noir and his actors - there are ten of them on stage, what a performance in our sad age of minimalism and invidualism - have no hesitation in provoking the dominant and dominated, so dear to Pierre Bourdieu, to get their sex out on stage, to show their arses, to plunge their heads into a bidet overflowing with viscous blood, only to vomit it back out again. The scenes follow one another at a furious pace, with nods to Pulp Fiction or Virginie Despentes, slides of X-rated scenes or manga-pomo, mockery of the world of Walt Disney, and also of the 'most beautiful love songs' from France... or America, from... Belle à My most beautiful love story is youfilmic slow-motion worthy of the most grotesque Titanica trashy parody of so-called 'arse' TV shows! David Noir doesn't hesitate to express his motivations out loud: "In Avignon, I want to eradicate those who don't like me, the officials of the "lnlike the crados of the "Off. Les Justes is against the paternalistic theatre of collaborators, that of fathers, who provide commentary, comfort and consensus (...) We have to do away with the conventions of small couples or war heroes. We have to rebuild everything. Love is a collective affair that involves taming neuroses and violence. We're in the age of the golden calf, and everything has to be rebuilt. How can we live in a society that thinks so little and so badly, infested with people who can no longer play, enjoy or hate? We need to eradicate TV and other media that pit the individual against society. I hate the image of the mediatised man: the ox who identifies with oxen! The manipulation that consists of reassuring everyone with Nazi-like clichés: good, evil and Le Pen, disgusts me. The monster is in all of us and hatred does more good for love than complacency". The provocation of David Noir and his exceptional cast is far from gratuitous. It is necessary, even indispensable. So don't hesitate to cross the threshold of Théâtre Pulsion, a venue now dedicated to committed theatre - and more if you like! - The jubilant scato-sado-maso-underground outburst of Justes Story The Festival d'Avignon is a great opportunity for anyone with an open mind to take a deep breath of fresh, invigorating air in the festering swamp that the Festival d'Avignon is slowly but surely becoming.
