My actual practice of the stage dates back to my 20 years, although I can trace back to my early childhood the elements that reflect my interest in performance. The transmission of what I have learned and discovered by being myself on a stage or directing the others can be summed up in one essential point: being alive on a stage is a quest for extra lucidity.... It is above all a sensory experience with all the radars out, which allows us to be a vector for others who see us doing it. It is not so much the subjective sincerity of the feeling that is important, but the perception of the reality around us at the moment T. By thus becoming extrasensory of the head and the body, the question of the "true" and the "just" no longer arises. The journey is elsewhere. Much higher than in the world of ideas. It takes place in that of the hyper-materiality of things and beings: the spirit, the living, the tangible and the mortal. DN

David Noir has been charting a sinuous path to the stage and the performing arts since 1986.

In turn, author, director, scenographer, actor, singer and performer of his own creations, he operates variably, alone or accompanied by a group.

Although he started as a director and company director at the age of 22, it is only seven years later that he directed "Les Animaux Décousus", a film work on his sexuality that prefigures the form and fundamental research of his future projects. In 1998, he began working with the company La Vie est Courte, a 7 year old company, thanks to which he developed his writing and a group dramaturgy combining depth of text, nudity and burlesque.

During this period, he will address recurring themes such as the individual facing the majority, collective nudity, playful sex, educational oppression and primitive childhood. Five shows will be born between 2000 and 2004 around these subjects, including three main matrixes: "Les Puritains", "Les Justes-Story" which will be banned from the stage by Pierre Cardin in his first week of operation in his Petit Espace, "Les Innocents ou 16 à Nez Noir" and two small forms: "Terre! "and "Gode Blesse Me", the first solo in the form of an invitation to sodomy to the spectators.

Since the beginning of the 2000s, he has been passionate about the Web and new narrative modes, especially video games, and sees the Internet and computer media as a real opportunity to extend the scene. This consideration remains today anchored at the heart of his research and proposals on the Web. In 2008, he asserted his position as a creator-performer, solo or accompanied, by playing JaZon, hero of a contemporary, sexual and war epic bringing together all aspects of his work and given in Paris in an initial form of 9 performances created at the rate of one per month under the global title "La Toison Dort" (The Sleeping Fleece). In 2010, this work is part of a 2th phase through "Project JaZon", aiming even more to highlight the naked body, the driving force behind his writing, but also its intriguing place and emotional potential in our societies.

Starting in 2011, it is his encounter with Le Générateur, a creative space resolutely oriented towards performance, that will decisively mark a new direction in his work through the creation of two 3pm installation-shows, entirely open to the participation of the public considered as partners and interpreters. The first will be "La Toison dort" in the form of a last opus bringing together the previous episodes enriched by the spontaneous improvisations of the participants, and then it will be the final outcome of this teeming form, with "Les Parques d'attraction" in 2013, during which it will no longer be possible to discern the spectators' performers behind the many disguises made available to the visitors. From 2014 to 2017, his experiments will continue with the "Scrap" cycle, honouring the cut-up of texts, sounds and strong images through "Le féminin dans tous ses états" and "Les camps de l'Amor", separated by a pachydermic solo entitled "Défense du masque Ulin", then two short performances given at the Generator: "Votre enfant (n'a qu'un œil)" and "Marée Haute" where he attempts a crossing of the hall in a turtle costume.

Through his work as an author, director and performer, David Noir is essentially interested in the collisions between reality and fantasy which, in his eyes, form the basis of human nature.

The art video clip, the captioned photo, the sound research using his own voice transformed and sung, the elements taken from the news, are integrated into his research to generate chance and unexpected creative of all kinds. He regularly makes short non-fiction films under the generic title of "microfilms", often lasting less than a minute, creating an absurd comic genre based on costumed or naked characters whose situations literally illustrate puns and everyday language expressions. David Noir has been drawing, painting and collaging since childhood. He is also a theatre teacher and devotes a lot of time to passing on the various fruits of his stage experiences in the form of improvisation and performance initiation workshops.

All the elements of his biography and his artistic evolution are also found in the teaching he has been giving since the mid-90s. In addition to his numerous courses and the training work he has done with several companies, the direction of a weekly improvisation research workshop for seven years has allowed him to develop many new or different techniques designed to foster the rapid development of the performer in good conditions.

David Noir has been associated with the Générateur de Gentilly since 2018 after several years of intense and regular collaboration with this place. Since then, he has also been performing cabaret shows through his characters as a logical continuation of his performances.
