Springtime of the rebels
Everywhere in March, the stage is trying to awaken consciences. In Dieppe, sixteen naked, bloodied girls and boys castigate consumer society to the point of dejection in David Noir's latest performance. Seize à nez noirs mixes the themes of childhood, sex and the alienation of consciousness in a frightening human zoo. An interactive, free and unidentifiable object, this show, created during the Visu festival, is dedicated to the mistreatment of the body, through dance, happenings, music and plastic arts. The same stage hosts Visage de feu, a murderous satire of a monstrous family by Mayenburg, directed by Korsunovas, a young prodigy of the Lithuanian stage. Another champion of venomous performance, the Spaniard Rodrigo Garcia, a darling of international theatre, takes a politically incorrect look at parental despotism and mortifying conventions. Five of his plays are being performed simultaneously: Notes de cuisine from 25 March in Lyon; Boucher espagnol from 19 March in Poitiers; Jardineria-Humana from 11 March in Grenoble; J'ai acheté une pelle chez Ikea pour creuser ma propre tombe (I bought a shovel at Ikea to dig my own grave) on 27 March in Annecy; and, finally, Borges at the beginning of April in Toulouse. In addition, Ronald the McDonalds Clown, his most violent work, will be presented this summer at the Avignon Festival.
